SERVANT LEADER

Service to others has so many rewards and meanings. Thru the years I have received really good customer service and some service that was less than desirable. When I was younger I really disliked having to take my car in for service. I dreaded being told that their were going to be extra costs and the descriptions always left me frustrated because I didn't understand what I was purchasing. Today I had a 60,000 mile check on my car with the accompanying service. After I left ( it took over 3 hours) I felt like I HAD received courteous and complete service. I left with an understanding of what was done to my vehicle. My questions were answered! What a difference! Have I become more "knowledgeable" about vehicles? Hardly!

Today I was at a dealer that values their customers and gives good service. Part of which includes a complete explanation of the services provided. I also felt more comfortable asking questions. That is one benefit to being "old". As a "Grama" I have learned that it is "OK" to ask questions. I am always learning new things and people are very helpful when approached with courtesy and respect. And yes "old" age did not make me " all-knowing". I still have a LOT to learn. That ole' golden rule sure comes in handy. I have found that, "People may not remember what I say, but they will remember how I make them feel." How does all this apply to my being an Entrepreneur. Well for me it is basic courtesy. Although I deal with products my emphasis is on sharing information about myself, goods and services.
Why would anyone want to buy from me? Well recently I had gone to a home to demonstrate 100% Pure Mineral Makeup. Afterwards the ladies were given lists of their colors and the prices. I asked if anyone wanted to place an order but it was very low key. I gave them their sheets to keep and continued to answer questions re: a variety of products and topics. With over 450 products I didn't have all the answers at my fingertips. However I promptly got back to them with the information when I returned home. After a few weeks a lady ordered a complete kit (over $130). When it arrived I went to her home ( at her request) to help her apply the makeup. It was important to me for her to enjoy all her products. In this way I was able to answer any new questions she had. I also feel it is important to answer the phone. It can be so frustrating to call and never reach your party or leave messages and not get a call back. I know because I have been there. I have Vonage (Voice Over IP). This has been very helpful for my business. All incoming calls and phone messages are kept and logged by Vonage. I can also save my phone messages. I refer to them for the complete information that is requested. Sunday night I took an order for over $160. This person called 3 others before me but I was the one to answer the phone. That was fantastic! Was I done after I placed the order. No! I followed through to be sure the order was shipped and the charges for tax and shipping were clear. I also spoke with another person from Canada and followed with emails containing her requested information. We have chatted a number of times. I have followed by sending her all requested information. It just felt so good to be of service and of help.
Aren't we all really the same? Looking for courtesy and respect. Looking for that connection to someone. I know that I would rather work with and purchase from a friend. I can't help but think that others feel the same way. I also am associated with a few groups that emphasize service to others. I have to admit I have found those the most rewarding. It just feels so right to be connected in a positive way. The Golden Rule- Do onto others as you would have them do onto you. It is still timeless and is my best business practice. My best wishes for optimum health and prosperity to you all,

Cadbury Eggs and Chocolate Bunnies

Easter or any holiday is a fantastic time to be with family. My husband and I love being grandparents. Cadbury eggs, chocolate bunnies, and black jelly beans, the tastes of Easter are so tempting. Our grandchildren love the Easter egg hunt that they go to each year. What could be more fun for a child than free candy!

But what is a poor grama to do......share in the candy. Yummy, yummy is chocolate in the tummy. Fortunately for my diet I was good and had very little candy. Today I was back to my routine which includes walking. Why are so many delicious things fattening? My dear husband reminded me that broccoli, carrots, and spinach are not fattening. I told him that is great for the Bunnies but this gal needs her chocolate. I have found a chocolate, sugar free, tastes great and helps with weight. WOW am I a lucky gal.

Thru the years I have learned what is the most important to me.  Family is everything.  The smiles and laughter of my grandchildren fill me with such joy that I can't begin to describe.  I have learned not to take myself to seriously.  I wear purple clothes and big red hats and join a group of ladies that value friendship and humor. With them I have learned too laugh at myself.   I have learned that dreams do come true: swimming with dolphins, petting a baby lion, watching your son open his first office, and kissing the little hurts of a child and helping them to feel better.  I have learned that there is much to be learned from the kindness and wonder of children.   I have learned that learning never stops.  Life is an amazing adventure full of new possibilities.  I wish you joy in your adventure.

Did You Eat Your Live Frog Today

Mark Twain once said that we should all eat a live frog each day. Once we have done that we have experienced the most awful thing that will happen to us that day. My "live frog" was calling people on the phone. I have learned to tackle my "frog" early in the day. The result is that I feel renewed and positive about what I do. Also an added bonus I have found some amazing interesting new friends.

What is your " live frog"?

Christmas Happenings

WOW! Isn't this a busy time of year. I have all my Christmas presents wrapped, and sent. My grandchildren receive theirs today. I wish I could be there to see how excited they are. At 7, 5, and 2 they love everything about this time of year. They sing, dance and almost jump right out of their skin with excitement. This " Grama" listened very carefully to them. The 2 boys have Tommy the Train. ( track, trains, accessories, and DVDs.) I know my son (Rob) will have fun with this because he still likes to play with his kid's and their toys. This time of year he and Shawnna ( daughter-in-law) will have some time to spend with them playing and having fun.

I am so glad to have a granddaughter. She is the first girl in the family. It is such fun shopping for all the "girl" things. I found her the prettiest outfits ( all shades of pinks). I also found jewelry that she can put on herself and some cute Disney accessories. Of course since she is so bright I also included DVD games. Both she and her brother play a lot of games. I think that helps with eye and hand coordination. As an elementary teacher and counselor I know how important that is.

My youngest son James will be home for Christmas and am really looking forward to that. He is such a lot of fun and we have a great time when he is around. Last week we went to Cheyenne,WY for lunch at the new Olive Garden with him. I had the portobello mushroom ravioli and it was delicious. My favorites are Spanish and Italian foods. Also anything I don't have to cook is in the top 10.

For Christmas I am making the traditional Poticia from our family recipe. My sons like this so much that they have both learned how to make it. I also have to admit that theirs is as good as mine. It is fantastic to have good cooks in the family. However after Christmas I will be back on my Slender FX and Projaba Slims. Those really work for me. I have also not been going to Curves. I miss that and NEED that. I will be there on Dec. 26th. Can't wait till New Years!

I hope your holidays are full of peace, blessings, and joy.
